PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Fellow Volunteers,
We are going to celebrate Thanksgiving on November 10th this year. Please sign up on/or before November 6 so I can buy enough turkey for our annual Thanksgiving “Dinner”. Please indicate what you are planning to bring as a side dish to serve 10 people. You may call the desk and sign up via phone.
We have a volunteer for the position as Assistant Secretary and Spaghetti Chef, LYNN EARL. Thank you Lynn for stepping forward and volunteering!!!
We still have an opening for the following position.
Finance/Audit Chair, assist the Treasurer; computer skills using QUICKEN and QUICK BOOKS is very desirable. Also, present a financial report quarterly to the Board of Directors. Summon meetings when necessary.
My wife and I just returned from a wonderful cruise from Quebec, Canada to New York. We had a great time and enjoyed each land tour! Thanks to Lillian and Dick Kai!!!
Until next month,
Phil
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you -
Can you believe it is almost Christmas? I haven’t even thought about gifts and entertaining yet. How about you???
If you didn’t make it to our Thanksgiving potluck, you missed a great event. The turkey was terrific and the side dishes did everybody proud. Our entertainment was wonderful, the Harmonicoots were great – hopefully we can invite them back sometime next year.
I want to thank a few people for all their help at our potluck: Cooks: Phil Johannsen, Ed Sanchez, Jack Rhoades, David Phillips. Decorations: Chris Miller, Margaret Smith, Audrey Andersen, Millie Crosby. Cleanup: Barbara Johannsen, Gladys Brown-Korf, David Phillips. Setup and take down tables: Mike McCoy. I hope I didn’t miss anyone.
Signup now for our Christmas potluck – Saturday, December 8. The Center will be serving ham – you bring the side dishes.
Our 4th annual “Breakfast at Applebee’s” will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Check at the Membership desk to buy your tickets. They will be $8.00 each. More on this next month.
Our first-ever (at the Center) Bunco class started on Tuesday, November 13, good turnout. If you are still interested and haven’t signed up yet, the next class will be Tuesday, December 11 at 1 – 3 p.m. in the Assembly Hall. Come and have a good time!
We are still looking for someone to step-up and offer to do the pots & pans at our Spaghetti/Bingo dinner. It takes about 45 minutes to wash the pans, put away the paper plates/forks, etc., then wipe off the tables, empty the coffee pot, put the necessary items in the stock room and you are done. If you can help at even one dinner, please let me know.
Remember! The Center will be closed the week of Christmas thru New Years (December 24 – January 1) and reopen Wednesday, January 2, 2008.
Talk to you next month
Barbara
